Rule A.12: Possessives of Words Ending in “S”

TLR follows CMOS 7.16–7.19. Possessives of words that end in “s” should generally by follow by an apostrophe and an “s” unless the word is a plural noun. 

YES: Colin Kane’s novels are classics.
YES:The puppies’ paws were dirty.
